The unruly coneflower tilts and raises it's head high toward the sky with a force that can only be measured in the speckles of magic in it's magenta tinted petals.
"Wayward Blossom" is a mixed media textile and woven fiber art wall hanging that is made of my own hand dyed fabric for the flower and other hand dyed fibers. My own handspun yarn adorns the setting of this coneflower and binds it to it's connected woven background. The stem, the petals and the head are hand stitched with iridescent sequins, Czech glass beads and Japanese Miyuki seed beads. The flower has been stitched and given a three dimensional aspect to create movement to compliment it's textured elements.
